Thoughts on Man with a big M

What has become of the mightiest of creatures?
For eons Man roamed earth conquering land and hearts alike.
Crossing great and treacherous seas in search of treasures unknown,
He was the slayer of giant beasts not out of sport,
but to clothe his kin and nourish his brothers.
Man was nestled in the bosom of our formidable Mother Nature.
Always aware that he could be thrown from its graces,
Just as a rider from its mount.
What a sight to see for on looking eyes!
A sleek and sinewy creature that gracefully danced through forests and plains.
As sly and cunning as the wolf, as fierce as a bear, and as playful as a lioness’ cub.
This is Man’s history.
These are his beginnings.
Where along the line did Man volunteer into slavery?
When did Man substitute suitcases for spears?
What led Man to be in bondage to his own destruction?
Trading a home among the wood for forests of metal and smog,
Exchanging liberties for credit scores and low wages,
What would Man’s admiring observers think now?
As they watch its “Great” leaders extend their grey veins through landscapes of beauty,
As the many are sacrificed to provide for the few.
Masses toiling day and night to seemingly no end for no observable reward,
Working to build great nations that will only crumble under their own weight.
Slaving and laboring to keep the machine moving,
A machine with no true purpose or direction
Hell bent on consuming all and replacing none.
Is this the so-called enlightened Man?
Is this civilized Man?
I think not.

Love it and so true. It started with the cowboys…industrial age …..computer age…wireless, where do we go next who knows. As far as civilized man- I think we are regressing in this area- Totally agree.

Elephants have been trained for centuries by chaining them to a tree when they are young. They grow so accustomed to the restraint that later in life their handlers simply leave a collar around their ankle with a bit of chain..tied to nothing. And the elephant will not wander any further than the length of chain that held him when he was young. Therefore, beware illusory restraints and question your assumptions often. Like the blog..keep it up!

  4. WE ALL HAVE GIVEN OUR LIBERTIES AT A VERY HIGH PRICE TO PAY. NEITHER WILL IT CEASE UNLESS WE REALLY STAND ON OUR OWN TWO FEET AND RECAPTURE THE VALUES, THE INTEGRITY, THE MORALS OUR COUNTRY WAS STRUCTURED UPON. IT’S A LONG ROAD , BUT INDEED WORTHY FOR THE CAUSE. REGROUP, RESTRUCTURE, REACT!
